A resident senior citizen of Highland Hall was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head on Tuesday, police said.
Just before 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday Eric Bauer, 70, was found dead in his 131 Purchase St. apartment by his ex-wife, Police Lt. Joseph Verille said. Police are saying that the resident took his own life.
Libby Bauer, of White Plains, called police after arriving at her former spouse’s Rye apartment to check on him; she would only find his deceased body. Bauer was pronounced dead by EMS personnel and a representative from the County Medical Examiner’s Office at the scene. It is not yet known when the shooting actually took place.
Bauer’s ex-wife traveled to the apartment after not hearing from him for several days. He had apparently called in sick for work on Jan. 28; the last time anyone had contact with him, according to the lieutenant.
